It is almost summertime which means one thing, time for your children to play outside and get out of the house. If your kids are spending a lot of time outside, they will need a way to stay cool. An easy solution to make sure your children have a way to cool off is to purchase a kiddie pool. Your kids will spend hours each day splashing around and making memories.

You can purchase kiddie pools from many different retailers, including several that are online. Online retailers offer a wider selection than most brick-and-mortar stores. This allows you to find a kiddie pool that fits your family’s unique personality and preferences. Maybe your family wants to swim in a heart or maybe they would prefer a rainbow.

You can also purchase several toys to extend and expand the fun your children will have with their kiddie pool. Water guns are always a huge hit and you can even join in on the fun. You know there are days you wish you could shoot your kids. Now you can. Inflatable balls are normally a big hit with children as well.

Kiddie pools will also vary in size. There are some larger ones and some that will only fit one or two kids at most. Your choice will depend on your preference if you have several kids or want to join your kids in the water you may want to choose a larger pool. Just remember the bigger the pool the more water to feel it and the more pool to keep clean.

5 Ways to Clean a Kiddie Pool

  1. Empty  Daily

This is the most hygienic method. You would dump it after use and scrub with a kitchen brush and a small amount of dish soap. By draining the water daily you make it impossible for any type of bacteria to grow. If your kiddie pool is too large to fill daily you need to make sure that you have some sort of cover to go on the water when it is not in use.

  1. Oil Sucking Sponge

There are sponges on the market to place in a pool to soak up oils that get in the water from your children playing. This can include the natural oils on their skin as well as oils caused by sunscreen washing away as they play. This product will help to prolong the life of the water in your kiddie pool

  1. Bleach

No matter what you do to try and keep the water clean it must be dumped every 5 days since there is no type of filtration in a kiddie pool. If the water is not dumped daily the pool will require a deeper cleaning you will want to make a solution of hot water and a cap or two full of bleach depending on the size of the pool fill the bottom of the pool with this solution and use a sponge to scrub the sides of the pool to kill any bacteria or fungus.

  1. Baking Soda and Vinegar

Some people will prefer an option that doesn’t use chemicals if this is the case for your family you can choose to use baking soda and vinegar. Once you dump the water take baking soda and sprinkle it all over the whole pool then take a spray bottle full of vinegar and spray the whole pool. Let the chemical reaction do some work for a few minutes then take a kitchen brush and scrub the whole pool.

  1. Throw It Away and Start Over

Sometimes we forget about a kiddie pool for too long and bugs and all sorts of other things start to grow in one. At this point, the work to save it may not be worth the original investment you made. If you find that this is the case, then it is time to upgrade your kiddie pool.

Now that you know exactly how to clean a kiddie pool, you will know that your kids are playing in sanitary water all summer. Just remember not to go more than 5 days without changing the water and cleaning the pool thoroughly and you and your kiddies will be making summer memories in no time.
